New York prosecutors said Thursday they will accept a 30-day delay to the start of former President Donald Trump’s highly anticipated criminal case over alleged hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, potentially pushing Trump’s Manhattan trial to April, though the former president has argued the trial should be pushed back until after the November elections.

Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney who brought criminal charges against Trump, said in a court filing on Thursday he would agree to a 30-day delay out of an “abundance of caution” to give Trump’s legal team sufficient time to review new materials in the case, including 73,000 pages of new records.

Trump’s trial, over charges of falsifying business records from hush-money payments to Daniels and two others ahead of the 2016 election, is slated to start on March 25.

An official delay needs to be approved by Manhattan judge Juan Merchan.

Trump, who won the GOP presidential nomination this week, had demanded the case be dismissed and later requested a delay in the trial, though his request stems from his legal bid for presidential immunity, with Trump seeking a delay until the Supreme Court issues a decision on his immunity bid in a separate criminal case—Merchan denied Trump’s motion to dismiss.
