The NBA 2K stars are heading to the Big Apple. The NBA 2K League announced Thursday that it is holding its third annual All-Star Game in New York City at the NBA’s headquarters in Manhattan on September 22 at 7 p.m. ET.
Players selected to participate in All-Star Weekend games and festivities will compete in 5v5 and 3v3 gameplay formats. They’ll be playing for a share of a prize pool worth $30,000.
“New York City is an epicenter for the NBA 2K competitive scene, home to 23 NBA 2K League players and where the foundation of our league was laid after playing our first two seasons here in 2018 and 2019,” NBA 2K League President Brendan Donohue said in a statement.
“We can’t wait to host an amazing experience for the NBA 2K League’s absolute best players in midtown Manhattan at the NBA’s headquarters.”
The NBA 2K League will announce the All-Star rosters on social media the week of August 11. Votes by fans, current NBA 2K League players, head coaches, general managers and members of the media will determine the rosters for the 5v5 event.
The four players who receive the most votes will each captain a team for the 3v3 event. They can add any two of their conference’s 5v5 All-Stars to their teams.
The 5v5 portion of All-Star Weekend will be a single-game showcase played on NBA 2K24’s 5v5 Pro-Am mode. The 3v3 event will be a four-team bracket tournament featuring a best-of-three series, with players competing on NBA 2K24’s 3v3 Pro-Am mode.
Fan voting will open on Monday, July 24 and run through Saturday, August 5. Every current NBA 2K League player is available for selection. Fans will be able to submit a full ballot once each day on NBA2KLeague.com. Their votes will count three times on Friday, July 28 and Friday, August 4, for “3-for-1 Day.”
Winners of the 2023 Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year and Amateur of the Year will also be announced during NBA 2K League All-Star Weekend.
All of the events will be broadcast on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
