Fox News Channel cruised to an easy victory in the monthly cable news ratings race for July, a month when the network unveiled a revamped prime time lineup featuring Jesse Watters in the 9 p.m. ET timeslot previously occupied by Tucker Carlson. For the month, Fox News was the most-watched network in prime time and total day ratings, according to ratings data compiled by Nielsen.
Overall, Fox had an average prime time audience of 1.6 million viewers in July, and 147,000 viewers 25-54, the key demographic valued by advertisers. The July victory marked FNC’s 29th consecutive month finishing first in prime and total day ratings, and Fox had 92 of the 100 highest-rated telecasts in cable news in July.

Fox News Channel’s The Five was the highest-rated cable news show in July, with an average audience of 2.591 million viewers, followed by Jesse Watters Primetime (2.403 million viewers), Hannity (2.161 million viewers), Gutfeld! (1.983 million viewers) and The Ingraham Angle (1.926 million viewers)—all airing on Fox.
Among viewers 25-54, The Five finished in first place with 254,000 viewers, followed by Gutfeld! (252,000 viewers), Jesse Watters Primetime (207,000 viewers), Hannity (201,000 viewers), and The Ingraham Angle (174,000 viewers).
Fox’s new lineup, which debuted on July 17, helped push Fox News to double-digit gains, and compared to the network’s ratings in June, Fox prime time was up 20% in July among total viewers and up 19% in the key demo.
The highest-rated non-Fox show in cable news for the month was MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, which delivered a total audience of 1.528 million viewers. MSNBC’s Deadline: White House also finished in the top ten, taking 9th place overall with an average total audience of 1.436 million viewers.
CNN’s highest-rated show in July was Anderson Cooper 360, which finished in 27th place overall and had a total audience of 674,000 viewers. AC 360 jumped up to 21st place overall in the key demo, with an audience of 121,000 viewers.
