Nearly 200,000 homes and businesses across six states remained without power early on Tuesday, as parts of the central and southern U.S. dealt with the fallout of severe storms over the Memorial Day weekend which killed at least 23 people.
Powerful storms ripped through parts of southern and central U.S. over Memorial Day weekend.
According to the tracker PowerOutage.us, more than 83,800 customers in Kentucky were still without power overnight while 41,000 homes and businesses in Arkansas—where the storms killed at least eight people—were facing a blackout.
An additional 83,000 customers in Texas, West Virginia, Missouri and Alabama were also grappling with power outages after the weekend’s extreme weather.
This is a developing story.
