Elon Musk reposted President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s criticism of protesters in Los Angeles on Sunday, suggesting his ire toward Trump has cooled after last week’s public blow-up, and he may seek to make amends.

Musk retweeted a Vance tweet echoing Trump’s call to end what the president referred to as “Migrant riots” in Los Angeles, with Musk captioning the post with two American flags.

He also retweeted a Trump Truth Social post blasting California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for opposing the deployment of National Guard troops to the protest scene.

On Saturday he also deleted incendiary tweets suggesting Trump was in the so-called “Epstein files” and endorsing Trump’s impeachment.

Musk had stopped attacking the president on social media over the weekend, following a days-long X outburst last week that followed Musk’s official exit as a member of Trump’s administration.

The White House clashed with California politicians over the weekend as protests broke out around Los Angeles in response to raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that resulted in dozens of arrests. Trump and others in his administration denounced the protests using anti-immigration rhetoric, and Trump called for the National Guard to be deployed.

The implosion of Trump and Musk’s friendship dominated the news cycle last week as Musk became increasingly aggressive in attacking Republicans on X over Trump’s policy bill, then eventually turned on Trump. By the end of the week, Musk had endorsed Trump’s impeachment in the since-deleted post and Trump alleged Musk had “lost his mind.” Musk has said he opposes the legislation, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” because it would add to the federal deficit, while Trump and his allies have accused Musk of being against it because it would cut an electric vehicle tax incentive.
