A recent survey from Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America shows that a particular destination’s cultural aspects play a major role when choosing a vacation. It’s more than just the hotel or resort. Among survey respondents, 86% said that culture and local history were key factors in their travel decisions. Shortly behind were gastronomy and beach or outdoor settings. The yearly survey is in partnership with Maru/Blue, but looks at travel trends south of the U.S. It reveals some important details on what inspires people in their travels. It’s not just a low price anymore, but also how they get there and what they do when they arrive.

The nostalgia of the 1980s and 90s is in full blast at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona this summer.
