2023 is already halfway over, and as the music industry continues to evolve, Luminate has released its annual mid-year report, providing insights into the top trends and the most-consumed albums and songs in the United States during the first six months of the year.

Unsurprisingly, country singer Morgan Wallen takes the lead by a significant margin with his album One Thing at a Time. The blockbuster release has surpassed all others, moving more than 3.3 million equivalent units. It is the only title to have moved over two million copies, at least so far. With 15 nonconsecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, Wallen's album has already made its mark and may regain its dominance soon.

Following right behind Wallen is SZA's album SOS, which has already shifted nearly two million equivalent units. With its continued strong performance, it is poised to reach the two million mark in no time. Taylor Swift's Midnights claims the third spot on the list with an impressive 1.876 million equivalent units shifted. The pop set’s placement is remarkable considering that the album was released in 2022, and it moved millions when it first arrived.

Rounding out the top five, Wallen makes another appearance with his previous album, Dangerous, which has shifted an additional 1.1 million equivalent units in the U.S. this year. Coming up right behind him is Metro Boomin with Heroes & Villains, rounding out the list of albums that have surpassed one million equivalent units. Surely before the year comes to a close, this is unlikely to be the last release to reach one million units, as more albums are expected to achieve this milestone.

Wallen and Swift are the only artists to have multiple albums featured in the top 10. As mentioned, Wallen claims the first and fourth positions, while Swift's albums rank at third and tenth. Closing the list is Swift's 2019 pop album, Lover. This pop effort has experienced a resurgence as she performs many of its songs during The Eras Tour. In an unconventional move, Swift is currently promoting the track "Cruel Summer" as a single from this album, four years after it was first made available. The strategy is evidently effective, as Lover has moved an additional 700,000 equivalent units in 2023 alone.

Here are the top 10 most-consumed albums in the U.S. in 2023 (so far):

No. 1 - Morgan Wallen - One Thing at a Time - 3.312 million equivalent units

No. 2 - SZA - SOS - 1.982 million equivalent units
