The Maywood Police Department in Illinois determined Brown’s location to be the Sabbia Condos in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, using Google Lens.
In the video, someone who appears to be Brown wildly suggested authorities “kidnapped me twice from home” and repeatedly called stories surrounding the situation “fake news!”
Authorities have not responded to questions from Forbes concerning next steps on whether federal or local Mexican authorities will be getting involved or affirming if this was actually Brown in the video.
Brown and his mother, 73-year-old Myrtle Brown, were reported missing on Saturday. After continued searching, the elder Brown was found dead near a creek behind her home in Maywood, Illinois. Her cause of death was multiple injuries due to assault and the manner was deemed a homicide, according to records the Cook County Bureau of Administration shared with Forbes. Brown is a former NFL safety who played for the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills. Neighbors have alleged that the athlete’s family said he had not been himself and was out of his mind.
“I thought my mama was on vacation in Sinaloa… . FBI had to do it,” Brown is apparently heard saying in the video.
Someone who appears to be Brown shared a video on the story of the account @intplayerwithapassport earlier on Wednesday with a Maywood, Illinois, geotag.
