At least 10 people were killed in New Orleans’ Bourbon Street early on Wednesday in what authorities described as a “mass casualty incident” involving a vehicle ramming into a crowd.
In an official statement, city authorities said 30 injured people have been transported to nearby hospitals.
The incident involved a “vehicle that drove into a large crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street,” but the statement did not offer any additional details about the circumstances or the driver.
Bourbon Street, located in the city’s French Quarters, is a popular tourist spot where a large number of people had gathered for New Year’s celebrations, CNN reported.
This is a developing story.
