Mark Zuckerberg—the 40-year-old billionaire founder of Meta—has recorded an acoustic cover of Lil Jon’s “Get Low” alongside T-Pain, the latest eyebrow-raising moment as the world’s fourth-richest man recasts himself in the public eye, donning trendy clothing and a gold chain and showing off his personal life on social media platforms.

The more than three-minute cover of the hit song—created by Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz in 2002—features the billionaire sitting alongside rapper T-Pain to sing (with autotuning) a version of the song as he plays guitar, calling themselves Z-Pain and belting lyrics like “shawty crunk, so fresh, so clean” and “back, back, back it up.”

Zuckerberg wrote in a post Thursday on Instagram, which now has more than 400,000 likes, the cover song of the “lyrical masterpiece” was an anniversary gift for his wife, Priscilla Chan, and said the song was playing at the college party where they met, so the couple listens annually in celebration.

The song joins other postings from Zuckerberg about elaborate gifts he’s purchased for his wife, including a large green statue of Chan, which he posted about on Instagram in August.

The song is the latest unconventional move from Zuckerberg, who has stepped into the spotlight in the past several years. The billionaire, who co-founded Facebook in 2004 and has run the company since it went public in 2012, has been the subject of controversy throughout his career and viewed as an icon of Silicon Valley, once wearing hoodies and having bouts of nervous behavior, such as the time he sweated through his hoodie on stage during an interview at a tech conference in 2010. But, just as Meta has surged to a record-high stock price and a $1.5 trillion market capitalization, Zuckerberg has changed his image entirely, wearing clothes like a shearling jacket and posting about new activities like martial arts and surfing. In celebration of the Fourth of July, he posted a video of himself wearing a tuxedo and wake surfing while holding a drink and an American flag. In 2023, he engaged in an internet dispute with the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, about a UFC-style fight that never took place but would have featured the two billionaires duking it out in a mixed martial arts match. He also gave a casual, far-reaching interview to the Acquired Podcast in September, where he talked about starting his clothing line of Roman Empire-themed shirts.

Zuckerberg also told Bloomberg in an interview now-President-elect Donald Trump’s reaction to the July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, was “one of the most badass things” in his life. He did not endorse any candidate in 2024 and sought to separate himself and Meta from politics after controversy over his donations to election administration-related nonprofits during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Forbes estimates Zuckerberg is worth $199.2 billion as of Thursday morning, making him the No. 4 on Forbes’ real-time billionaires list.
