The four bedroom, five bath home boasts a large reception room and dining area "fit for stately dinners," its Sotheby's International Realty listing by agent Michael Rankin shows, and it once regularly hosted diplomats, dignitaries and the Washington elite.

The house, built in 1853, includes two wood-burning fireplaces, wooden built-ins, an exterior terrace and garden, library, two-car garage and a gourmet kitchen complete with marble countertops and a six-range stove.

The home played host to former President Bill Cinton during his years in the White House, as well as the president of the Czech Republic in the 1990s, Henry Kissinger, Condoleezza Rice and other dignitaries, the Wall Street Journal reported, and was also a popular place for foreign policy discussions during the Iraq War.

Albright and her husband, journalist Joseph Albright, bought the house for $100,000 in 1968, the Wall Street Journal reported, and she continued to live in it after his their 1983 divorce until her own death in 2022.

With a $4 million asking price, the home is almost twice as expensive as the median listing price for Georgetown homes in August, per Realtor.com, which is up 46% from the same time last year.

Albright was the first woman to ever hold the position of Secretary of State—she served under President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001 after four years as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Before her time in government, the Czech-born diplomat earned a PhD from Columbia University and worked as a senate aide. She was also a Georgetown University professor and helped assemble Clinton's National Security Council.

“My house is comfortable, not elegant, and my dinners were simple buffet affairs,” Albright wrote in her autobiography, per WSJ.

Albright’s home is the latest once owned by a high-profile resident to hit the market in recent weeks. Australian billionaire James Packer listed his Beverly Hills estate for $85 million, which once boasted famous residents like Danny DeVito, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. A Lake Tahoe estate formerly owned by Steve Wynn is back on the market for $76 million, Elton John's Atlanta condo is listed for $4.995 million and radio host and former American Idol mentor Bobby Bones has listed his Nashville mansion for $8.7 million.
