The Santa Monica Mountains and Hollywood Hills are under a flash flood warning until 3 p.m. local time, the National Weather Service announced Monday, warning of “moderate to heavy showers” following the five to 10 inches of rain that had already fallen just before 10 a.m.

The NWS warned that rain, possible thunderstorms and snow in mountain areas will continue in the Los Angeles area through Tuesday night and potentially into Wednesday, when “gusty northwest winds will form.”

On Sunday, local daily rainfall records were broken across southwestern California, including in downtown Los Angeles where the previous record of 2.55 inches from 1927 was shattered by the 4.10 inches that fell.
