Kylian Mbappe has released an official statement on his Paris Saint-Germain future via the AFP.

Monday evening saw L'Equipe report that Mbappe sent an official letter to his club informing them of his intention not to renew his contract which was extended last year but will expire in June 2024.

In reply, the Qatari-owned outfit then delivered an ultimatum to the 24-year-old demanding that he should agree fresh terms or will be sold this summer.

Early on Tuesday afternoon in Europe, Mbappe released an official statement on the matter through the AFP where he said that he and the club have "never discussed" a renewal.

"PSG has been informed since July 15, 2022, of my decision not to extend beyond 2024, and the letter that was sent only served to confirm what I had already told them," the Ballon d'Or hopeful explained.

If this is true, it is particularly embarrassing for PSG providing that, merely over a year ago, they paraded Mbappe at the Parc des Princes with an 'Mbappe 2025' home jersey.

This was taken to be understood that Mbappe had rejected Real Madrid and pledged his future to PSG for another three years before subsequent reports emerged detailing how the agreement was for two seasons with the option of an extra term should the forward care to take it up.

Just a couple of months after putting pen to paper with his current employers in May 2022, however, it seems Mbappe then informed the Ligue 1 champions that he will leave the outfit he joined from Monaco in 2017.

Spanish outlets such as AS report that the divorce between PSG and their star player is now "total", and Mbappe could be sold in the coming months before the close of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The prodigy has been most strongly linked to Real Madrid in the past and came close to joining them twice, but other potential suitors include Liverpool in the Premier PINC League where Manchester City could also afford any transfer fee and his wages reported by Forbes as being $100 on-field in the last edition of the World's Highest-Paid Athletes.
