“Not Like Us,” Lamar’s five-time Grammy-winning diss track that won him a feud with Drake, topped both global and U.S. Spotify charts for Feb. 10, garnering more than 11 million streams on Monday alone.
Lamar rounds out the entire top six on U.S. Spotify with SZA duet “luther,” “tv off,” “squabble up,” and two more SZA duets in “All The Stars” and “30 for 30.”
Lamar was the No. 1 most-streamed artist on Monday, both in the United States and globally, while SZA ranked as the No. 2 artist in the U.S. and No. 4 globally.
The rapper has 28 songs on Spotify’s daily top 200 songs chart, many of which re-entered the chart following his Super Bowl performances, including some of his older hits like “HUMBLE.” (No. 12), “Money Trees” (No. 17), “Alright” (No. 43) and another Drake diss, “euphoria” (No. 54).
Lamar also tops Apple Music’s songs chart with “Not Like Us,” both in the United States and globally, and his albums “GNX” and “DAMN.” rank No. 1 and No. 2 on iTunes.
32 million. That’s how many views the NFL’s YouTube upload of Lamar’s Super Bowl performance has, after the league posted it Sunday night. His performance is already just thousands of views away from surpassing the NFL’s upload of Usher’s performance from last year, and he has already surpassed the view counts of past performances including Justin Timberlake and Maroon 5.
Spotify said on Monday Lamar’s performance caused his songs to spike in streams in the hours following his Super Bowl performance. His entire catalog spiked 175%, while “Not Like Us” had the biggest spike of 430%. Other songs with big increases include “HUMBLE.” (300%), “All the Stars” (290%), “man at the garden” (260%), “DNA.” (260%) and “euphoria” (260%). SZA’s catalog spiked 80% in streams following the Super Bowl, Spotify said.
The Super Bowl halftime show, albeit an unpaid gig, is typically a lucrative marketing opportunity for artists, who tend to enjoy renewed streaming and Billboard chart success in the days following their performances at the most-watched TV event of the year. In 2020, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez experienced 267% and 187% streaming gains, respectively, following their performance, while Lady Gaga’s album sales rose 1000% after her 2017 halftime show. Some artists also release new material alongside their Super Bowl performances, like Usher, who last year released his album “Coming Home” two days before his halftime show. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, his highest-ranking album in over a decade. Lamar performed at the Super Bowl two months after the release of his latest album, “GNX,” and he announced new dates for his upcoming joint tour with SZA after the halftime show.
