Katy Perry, despite not having released new music recently, continues to enjoy the unwavering support of her fans who consistently purchase and stream her greatest hits. Now, one of her most popular songs has achieved a significant milestone, which only helps to further cement Perry's position in music history.

Her hit single "California Gurls" has been certified diamond by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). This prestigious recognition signifies that the song has surpassed at least 10 million equivalent units in the United States alone, including sales and streaming equivalent units.

With this latest certification, Katy Perry has amassed a total of four diamond singles throughout her career, and she now holds the record for the most diamond-certified singles among female musicians. Prior to this achievement, she was tied with Lady Gaga, as both artists had three diamond plaques to their credit. But now, Perry has now pulled ahead, solidifying her place as a trailblazer in the music industry.

Currently, Perry's most-certified single is "Firework," which has achieved a remarkable 12-times platinum certification for selling 12 million units in the United States. Following closely behind is her collaboration with Juicy J, "Dark Horse," which has attained an impressive 11-times platinum certification, while her empowering anthem "Roar" maintains its diamond status, also known as 10-times platinum.

Lady Gaga, while still retaining her three diamond-certified singles, may soon add another to her list of accomplishments. Her radio blockbusters "Bad Romance" and "Just Dance" have already achieved 11-times platinum certifications, and "Poker Face" has also reached diamond status.

Perry is poised to keep her lead over Gaga when it comes to earning another diamond-certified single. Several of Perry's other major chart-topping hits, such as "E.T.," "Hot n Cold," and "Teenage Dream," are currently at eight-times platinum status and continue to accumulate regular streams. It is only a matter of time before they also achieve diamond certification, further solidifying Perry's dominance in the music industry.
