Swimmer Katie Ledecky will extend her record as the most-decorated U.S. female Olympian—and the second-most decorated U.S. Olympian of all time, behind Michael Phelps—if she medals in the 800-meter freestyle final Saturday afternoon, which would mark her 14th Olympic medal.

Ledecky, who already has three medals in this year’s Olympics, is heavily favored to win gold in the competition.
A podium finish would provide Ledecky with her 14th Olympic medal, extending her lead on swimmers Natalie Coughlin, Jenny Thompson and Dara Torres—all tied with 12 medals—as the most decorated U.S. female Olympian.
Ledecky is the second most decorated U.S. Olympian behind Michael Phelps’ 28 medals.
Ledecky posted the best time in the 800-meter freestyle heats Friday, completing the race in eight minutes and 16 seconds—nearly two seconds faster than second place swimmer Paige Madden.
