A Juventus first team star has been offered to FC Barcelona according to transfer market expert Gerard Romero and his Jijantes FC channel.

Romero came to global prominence last summer when breaking a number of exclusives on the eventual signings of Barca first team stars such as Jules Kounde and Raphinha.

In a Twitch streaming session on Sunday morning, Romero revealed that Adrien Rabiot has been offered to the Blaugrana in recent weeks.

The Frenchman's contract in Turin is currently nearing expiry, with his Serie A employers desperately trying to renew terms at the last minute.

With the freedom to move on in under a fortnight with no strings attached, however, Rabiot has been "put on the table" to president Joan Laporta and his board.

That Barca are in the market for a midfielder is no secret. In addition to needing a replacement for outgoing captain Sergio Busquets, first team coach Xavi Hernandez would also like a more attacking center-of-the-park technician to provide cover for when players such as Pedri are injured as seen through the spring last season.

Barca were previously linked to Joshua Kimmich, but talk of landing the German has been cooled after remarks he made this week indicating he will honor his contract in Bavaria.

Xavi is therefore insisting that Barca go for Martin Zubimendi reports Mundo Deportivo, but the Real Sociedad star's €60 million ($66 million) release clause is difficult to meet in times of financial difficulties.

Barca's economic uncertainty means that free transfers are of primary interest to director of football Mateu Alemany and sporting director Deco in the upcoming transfer window.

At the same time Barca edge close to Manchester City skipper Ilkay Gundogan, they could make an approach for the more defensive Rabiot.

Rabiot appeared sat for a move to Catalonia the last time his contract was nearing expiry at Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Ultimately, however, then-president Josep Bartomeu went in for Frenkie de Jong, with Rabiot and his agent mother Veronique also pushing for a €10 million ($11 million) signing-on fee and net salary for the same amount according to Mundo Deportivo.
