Jung Kook has a pair of songs present on the Pop Airplay chart this week–one he leads and a collaboration with another star. Both tunes rise on the ranking of the most-played tracks at pop radio in the U.S., and in doing so, shake up an important all-time list–one which Jung Kook almost entirely dominates.
This week, Jung Kook’s single “Too Much” lifts to a new high point of No. 15 on the Pop Airplay chart. The track improves enough to pass another one of the BTS star’s own smashes.
“Too Much” now ranks as the third-highest-rising song by a South Korean soloist in the history of the Pop Airplay chart. Last week, it was tied for that position with another major win from Jung Kook, “Seven.” That tune, which also credits rapper Latto, peaked at No. 17 earlier this year. Now, Jung Kook’s new hit has passed one of his most important.
Jung Kook serves as a featured artist on “Too Much,” though it still counts toward his discography. The track is fronted by Australian pop singer The Kid Laroi. It is taken from his new album The First Time, and it also features rapper Central Cee.
As of this week, the ranking of the highest-charting hits by South Korean solo artists in the history of the Pop Airplay has changed, and it may do so again in the coming frames as a pair of wins from Jung Kook continue to climb.
Now, the list of the best performers that fit this specific description goes as such: “Gangnam Style” by Psy (peaked at No. 10), “Left and Right” by Charlie Puth and Jung Kook (No. 11), “Too Much” by The Kid Laroi, Central Cee and Jung Kook (No. 15, so far), “Seven” by Jung Kook and Latto (No. 17) and finally “3D” by Jung Kook and Jack Harlow. That last cut also rises, to No. 21, but only one spot from where it sat last period.
