As expected, Assange pleaded guilty to one felony count, allowing him to avoid a U.S. prison sentence.

Assange will return to his home in Australia following the court proceeding in which he entered his plea.

The proceeding is taking place in Saipan, the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands, because of its close proximity to Australia.
