A civil lawsuit was filed Tuesday by Jonathan Majors’ ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, who alleges the former Marvel star physically abused her multiple times over nearly two years, the latest allegations after Majors was found guilty of assaulting Jabbari late last year.
The former Marvel star was found guilty of assault and harassment last year.
Jabbari accused Majors of battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution and defamation, after Majors allegedly subjected her to a “pattern of pervasive domestic abuse” from 2021 to 2023, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit alleges Majors physically attacked Jabbari in July 2022 following months of “verbal assaults and frightening anger” by Majors, who attacked Jabbari again in September that year, resulting in “serious injuries to her body.”
Their relationship “continued to deteriorate” after Jabbari disclosed the abuse to a family member, according to the lawsuit, allegedly “culminating in yet another violent incident” last year that resulted in Majors’ arrest.
Jabbari claims Majors “implemented an extensive media campaign” to “publicly [abuse] her reputation,” citing an ABC News interview in which Majors denied hitting her and statements by his attorney Priya Chaudhry, who likened Majors to Emmett Till in an interview with The Cut.
Chaudhry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Majors is scheduled to be sentenced for one count of reckless assault and one count of harassment on April 8. He faces up to one year in prison or probation. He was found guilty in December.
Two former girlfriends of Majors told the New York Times last month they faced emotional and physical abuse during their relationships. Emma Duncan alleges Majors choked her after an argument in a taxi in 2017. A year earlier, Majors allegedly “threatened to strangle and kill her” during another argument. Maura Hooper also alleges Majors called her in 2015 to tell her to “kill yourself.” Chaudhry denied claims of physical abuse by Majors, though she acknowledged the relationships with Duncan and Hooper were “toxic” and that he had taken responsibility for his role in them.
Majors was arrested last March and charged with strangulation, assault and harassment after Jabbari accused him of assaulting her during a taxi ride. Jabbari said she received treatment for minor head and neck injuries. Majors’ attorneys argued his assault charges should be dismissed, claiming Jabbari had assaulted him, not the other way around. Following Jabbari’s allegations, other alleged abuse victims of Majors came forward and cooperated with law enforcement. Majors allegedly physically abused one romantic partner and emotionally abused two others, according to Rolling Stone.
