Jimmy Buffett passed away a little more than a month ago on September 1 after a lengthy and private battle with cancer. In the weeks since the news broke, his fans have rallied around his biggest singles, and his estate has released a handful of new songs. Now, one of those brand new offerings has reached a Billboard chart, proving that his music has a life even after him.

“Bubbles Up” debuts on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart this week. The ranking lists the tunes that perform the best at adult contemporary radio stations across the U.S. Buffett’s new tune opens at No. 28. That’s a fairly lowly position on the 30-spot tally, but the fact that the musician is there at all is impressive.

With “Bubbles Up,” Buffett lands his first new hit on the radio-focused tally in 28 years. According to Billboard, the tropical rocker last debuted a tune on the Adult Contemporary chart back in 1995. That year, his song “Mexico” reached the list, and it would go on to peak at No. 25.

Throughout his career, Buffett has sent 16 songs to the Adult Contemporary chart. Of that sum, just two have reached the top 10, and one of those tracks, the famed “Margaritaville,” made it all the way to No. 1.

“Bubbles Up” is one of three songs that Buffett’s estate released just days after his death. Fellow new tunes, "My Gummie Just Kicked In" and “My Dog,” dropped at the same time. All three tracks are set to be featured on his forthcoming posthumous album, Equal Strain on All Parts, which is scheduled to arrive on November 3.
