Vanessa Kirby
The comic book corners of the internet are once again alight with a fresh new wave of potential casting for the MCU’s Fantastic Four, with interest so high because they are the biggest new heroes to be introduced to the MCU since…well, probably the original Avengers, or the addition of the MCU’s own Spider-Man.
Previous rumors were that Adam Driver and Margot Robbie had been offered Reed Richards and Sue Storm evolved into the report that both actors had actually turned down those respective roles. Now? We have a fresh new wave of reports. The news comes from The Insneider. No, he has nothing to do with Zack Snyder. This is Jeff Sneider, and industry insider and reporter.
So, the new alleged line-up Marvel is now pursuing is as follows:
VENICE, ITALY - SEPTEMBER 04: British actor Matt Smith on the red carpet of the movie "Last Night In ... [+]
Reed Richards - Doctor Who’s Matt Smith was in talks to play him, but that doesn’t appear like it’s going to happen. They may try to get Adam Driver to consider it again.
LONDON, ENGLAND - JUNE 22: (EDITORS NOTE: Image has been converted to black and white) Tom Cruise ... [+]
Sue Storm – This report says that she would actually be the lead of director Adam Shankman’s film, rather than Reed. The choice here is Vanessa Kirby, most recently seen in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, first breaking out in Netflix’s The Crown.
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK - MAY 14: Joseph Quinn attends Netflix's "Stranger Things" Season 4 Premiere at ... [+]
Johnny Storm – The new name for the Human Torch is Joseph Quinn, the much-beloved Eddie Munson from Stranger Things season 4.
The Thing – This one remains unclear. Past rumored star Daveed Diggs is not mentioned here. It will not be Paul Walter Hauser from Black Bird. It will also not be The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach, but the report says that he is being considered for the film, potentially as Silver Surfer or Doctor Doom.
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 04: (EDITORS NOTE: Image has been edited using digital filters) ... [+]
Galactus – Is said to be the main villain of the film. Not sure how you fit both Doom and Galactus in here, but that’s the report. Galactus is supposed to be played by a Latino actor. This report does not name Antonio Banderas, previously rumored for the role, but the call is for a “major star” to take the part.
The rumors around this cast have been pretty insane, and as of yet, Marvel has no comment and no announcements about any of this. Fantastic Four does not have a release date until May 2, 2025, and obviously we are in the middle of an actor and writers strike where neither are supposed to be working, slowing down or halting this entire process.
Will this batch turn out? I don’t know, but it’s hard to be fully confident in any of these at this point, no matter the source.
