  2. The screenshot is then saved directly to the device’s desktop.

  2. Using the cursor, highlight the desired portion for the screen you want captured.
  1. Hold down either the Command, Shift and number 5 buttons or the Command, Shift and number 4 buttons
  2. Click the search bar afterwards.

If the Mac has a toolbar, screenshotting it is possible by holding the Command, Shift and number 6 buttons.

Screen recording is also possible on Mac computers with the keyboard shortcut of selecting the Command, Shift and number 5 buttons. Once activated, the option to screen record a selected portion of the screen, a selected window or the entire screen will appear.

For every screenshot–which is saved directly to the Mac’s desktop–a preview window appears in the lower left corner and opening it allows for cropping, rotating, highlighting, signing and annotating the image by clicking the drawing utensil icon. There is a trash icon beside this icon to delete the screenshot.

Lightshot can be added as an extension on browsers like Google Chrome or downloaded on the Macbook through the app store. Once added, select the extension and Lightshot’s icon, scan the desired area of screenshotting and various icons grant the ability to write and annotate on the document and, save, make a copy, print, directly share the screenshot to social network or search for similar images on Google. The screenshot will go to the Macbook’s downloads folder if saving it is selected.

Monosnap is free for non-commercial, individual use with additional payment plans for commercial use and team management. It can either be downloaded or added as a browser extension, and it prompts users to create accounts. To screenshot the desktop, press the Shift, Command and number 7 keys, choose to screenshot either the entire screen or a specific window and the screenshot will save to folders within the app. To screenshot parts of a page, press the Shift, Option and number 5 buttons, and to screenshot a full page, press Shift, Option and the number 6. To screen record on Monosnap, select the Shift, Command and the number 8 keys. There are options to edit and annotate screenshots and integrate apps like Google Drive and Dropbox with it to save images and videos there.

Skitch is a product of the project management tool Evernot that permits screenshotting and screen recording and annotations and editing on those screenshots on Mac.

Shottr allows for screenshotting, scroll-screenshotting and editing and writing on those screenshots on a Mac. There is a feature to pixelate texts and images on screenshots.
