Facebook permits name changes every 60 days.

Under Facebook’s name standards, users are allowed to use alphanumeric characters A-Z and 0-9 and a period, but not other symbols, repetitive characters or “characters from multiple languages” or “offensive or suggestive words.”

Facebook page name standards do not allow the use of the app or the parent company, Meta, abusive or offensive terms or slogans—among other things.

The social media site, owned by Meta, provides a form for users to fill out if they are having trouble changing their names.


If viewing the app on a web browser via a desktop, users should click on their profile picture, press Settings and Privacy, then Settings, navigate to the Account Center, click Profile, go to either Name or Username and make changes.

Facebook users attempting to change their names on iPhones should click on the Menu button in the bottom right corner of the app, select Settings and Privacy, then Settings and opt to change their Name or Username through Profiles in the Account Center. After similarly going to the Menu button, Settings and Privacy, then Settings, Android users should select Personal and Account information and tap on either Name or Username to make changes.

To change a business page name on Facebook, select the Menu option on mobile or click the profile picture on desktops go to Settings and Privacy, then Settings, select General Page Settings and opt to Edit your business page name.
