


The House of Representatives voted to pass a $459 billion spending bill on Wednesday that will now go to a vote in the Senate—just two days before the deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown.

The House passed the bill 339-85, with 83 Republicans voting against it.
The bill will help fund a number of departments in the federal government—including Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Transportation, Commerce and more—through the fiscal year.
The passage of this bill doesn’t resolve all of Congress’ spending issues, as a March 22 deadline still looms for lawmakers to negotiate funding for the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security and Health and Human Services.
