One person is dead and another is injured after an explosion at a Mooresville, North Carolina, home owned by Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley, Kent Greene with Iredell County Emergency Management told Forbes in a statement, in the latest tragedy involving a sudden home explosion.

After the explosion around midnight Monday night, first responders found Robert Farley, 61, dead and another person injured, Greene said.

Christian Rogers, 25, the injured person, was taken to a Charlotte, North Carolina, hospital and survived, Greene said.

The 3,600-square-foot home was “completely destroyed” after it exploded and promptly collapsed, Greene said.

Caleb Farley was not at his home when the explosion occurred.

"I think what’s important is we do everything we can to support Caleb and his family and do everything we can to be there for them, support them," Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said Tuesday during a press conference after practice, according to the Nashville Tennessean. "Everything else is pretty trivial."

Why exactly the explosion occurred. Investigators with Iredell County said they are investigating the cause, but natural cause is the main focus of their investigation.

This was at least the second deadly sudden home explosion in the U.S. this month. In Plum, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, an August 12 house explosion killed five people—four adults and one adolescent—destroyed three homes and damaged at least 12 other structures, Allegheny County officials said at the time.

Farley grew up in Maiden, North Carolina, and played football for Virginia Tech University, where he was named first-team All-ACC. In the 2021 NFL Draft, he was selected in the first round with the 22nd overall pick to play for the Titans. Farley has unfortunately lost both his parents now. In 2018, his mother, Robin Farely, died of breast cancer.
