


At least one person was killed as heavy rains triggered flash flooding in parts of New York state on Sunday evening, the New York Times reported, as flash flood warnings remain in effect until early Monday morning across southeastern parts of the state, including New York City.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a state of emergency for Orange and Ontario Counties on Sunday night, noting that the areas have experienced “life-threatening flooding.”
A woman in her 30s was swept away by flood waters in Orange County, according to NBC News, while Hochul said that several others were missing and at least one home has been washed away by the floods.
Hochul also noted that more than 13,000 people were without power on Sunday night.
