New York prosecutors Wednesday warned more charges could be coming for disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein after more accusers came forward, multiple outlets reported, as Weinstein’s overturned rape conviction heads back to trial.

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg said in a court hearing that prosecutors may bring a new indictment against Weinstein, saying “some people who were not ready to speak out” during Weinstein’s initial New York trial in 2020 “now appear ready to do so in 2024.”

The announcement comes one month after New York’s highest court overturned the former Hollywood mogul’s 2020 conviction on charges of rape and sexual assault on the grounds that the judge overseeing the landmark case erred in allowing witnesses to the stand whose allegations were unrelated to the charges Weinstein faced.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office said one week later it would seek a retrial, with a state judge allowing that retrial to proceed “sometime after Labor Day.”

Forbes has reached out to Weinstein’s attorney Arthur Aidala for comment.
