Google Launches Redesigned $499 Pixel 9a
© 2025 Bloomberg Finance LP

While the Pixel 10 is Google’s latest smartphone (already featured in a major giveaway deal), the Pixel 9a is the company’s current mid-range flagship handset—and it just received a major discount.

Amazon has dropped the price of the semi-budget phone to $399, down from $499, for the 128GB model. A 20% discount and sub-$400 price for a flagship Google phone is a solid deal, even if it’s a mid-range device.

This being an Amazon deal means little else comes with the phone. There are no free Pixel Buds, no free Pixel Watch, and no vouchers that shave even more money off the final price tag. Amazon will, however, pay up to $650 for your old phone via its trade-in program—but you’ll need to hand over an Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, which isn’t a smart trade to make.

Amazon’s trade-in prices pale in comparison to Samsung’s and Google’s used phone valuations, but the company does have one advantage: it accepts multiple phones at once. So, if you have a couple of older devices kicking around you can stack your trade-in discount—but don’t be shocked when the retailer only offers $20 for your Pixel 5.

MORE FOR YOU

If you want a free device with your Pixel purchase, Google U.K. is currently gifting a free pair of Pixel Buds Pro 2 to all Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro / XL buyers until October 31.

This is coupled with boosted trade-in valuations up to £615 ($823), which isn’t much to boast about, but you won’t get better prices for used Pixel phones anywhere else. For example, Google will pay £454 ($607) for a Pixel 7 Pro, whereas Amazon is offering $100 for it. The aforementioned Pixel 5, too, is worth £377 ($504) to the Search company.

The Pixel 10 series also received its first major discount during Amazon’s Prime Day sale last week, which lasted two days. The retailer knocked $150, $200, and $250 off the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro XL respectively. Meanwhile Google, which ran its own sale at the time, discounted each model by $50 less than Amazon’s promotion.

Early discounts of this size bode well for the Black Friday shopping period. Google may match the above discounts in November, but there’s a lot of price competition in the smartphone space right now. Samsung, OnePlus, and Motorola will have their own sales, alongside retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon. If you missed out on the Prime Day deals, there will be several more opportunities to buy a discounted Pixel this year—especially considering the company has run almost-monthly promotions for its flagship phones over the last 12 months.
