Giuliani was indicted last Monday on 12 other counts in addition to a violation of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, including three counts of solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, three counts of false statements and writings and conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, among other crimes.
Most of the charges stem from Giuliani’s attempt to convince Georgia elected officials to help Trump and his accomplices enlist a slate of fake electors to falsely certify Electoral College results in Trump’s favor.
Giuliani is also accused of making a series of false election fraud claims to Georgia legislators.
Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and Manhattan federal prosecutor known for using RICO to take down the Mafia in the 1980s, defended his record, telling reporters outside his Manhattan apartment on Wednesday he was “feeling very, very good” about the case and feels like he is “defending the rights of all Americans as [he] did so many times as a United States attorney.”
Calling Trump an “innocent man,” Giuliani accused prosecutors of being “liars” and “enemies of our republic who are destroying . . . my right to be a lawyer.”
