Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) was expelled from Congress on Friday after more than 300 of his colleagues voted to oust him, following a scathing ethics report that said he “sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit”—making Santos only the sixth person in history to be booted from the House.
Santos faces a slew of fraud and money laundering allegations.
Santos was expelled in a 311-114 vote, with 105 Republicans and 206 Democrats voting in favor of expulsion—well above the two-thirds majority needed.
The vote came weeks after a previous expulsion vote failed.
