FC Barcelona are set to pull what has been described as their last 'economic lever' by selling another stake in Barca Studios according to El Confidencial.

'Economic levers' was the big buzz word championed by Barca president Joan Laporta last summer.

It was used in relation to selling a portion of future televisions rights revenue to investment firm Sixth Street, and then the sales of two separate 24.5% stakes in Barca Studios to Socios and Orpheus Media.

Socios and Orpheus Media agreed to hand over €100 million ($110.6 million) each for their percentages.

As €10 million ($11 million) was handed initially, the two outfits both delayed €30 million ($33.1 million) payments set to be made last month - as reported by COPE - which left Barca with a €60 million ($66.8 million) hole in their books which has complicated matters at a time when they are trying to navigate Financial Fair Play.

Barca need to register new contracts signed by first team stars Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Inaki Pena, Marcos Alonso and Sergi Roberto, plus their three new signings in Ilkay Gundogan, Inigo Martinez and Oriol Romeu.

Vice president Rafa Yuste ruled out a big player sale to get the registrations over the line during an interview conducted with SPORT this week.

"We are working on it," he said as per the registrations themselves. "We presented a viability plan to the league, we are working on it and I think that soon we will be able to announce that there will be no problem for the top players to be registered.

"There will be good news very soon," Yuste vowed.

On Wednesday, SPORT and Mundo Deportivo reported that the Catalans were set to finalize and announce a cash injection this week, but there were no specific details other than MD saying that sources had told them the development was related to one of the club's assets.

Less than 24 hours later, El Confidencial has revealed that a German private equity group will immediately transfer the much-needed €60 million ($66.8 million) to club's coffers for a 16% piece of Barca Studios.

This still leaves the club owning 34% of its multimedia arm, and the development comes as a relief with the start of the La Liga season on the horizon in just over two weeks.

Barca start the defense of their La Liga title with an away trip to Getafe on August 12, and players such as Manchester City skipper have been reported as having a clause in their contract that allows them to leave if not registered by said date.
