FC Barcelona star Pedri has spoken about possibly leaving the club in an interview with La Vanguardia.
The midfielder has been impressive on Barca's preseason tour of the United States, providing a delightful assist for Ousmane Dembele to open the scoring in a 3-0 win over Real Madrid at Cowboys Stadium on Saturday when most would have taken a shot themselves from his position on the edge of the box.
Dembele is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain in a shock €50 million ($55 million) transfer set to be completed this week.
But while the Qatari-owned Ligue 1 giants made a cheeky €100 million ($110 million) bid for him earlier this year according to El Espanol, Pedri doesn't look to be following the Frenchman out of the Blaugrana exit door any time soon.
"I'm not aware of the offers that come to me," Pedri claimed. "They are received by my representatives.
"I tell them that if they want to listen they should do it, and they will tell me, but that I am focused on my thing which is to train, play and enjoy [football].
"But a lot has to happen for me to leave this club. It would have to be very bad and very uncomfortable. I see it [as] very unlikely, Barca is the club of my dreams and I want to stay for many more years," Pedri added.
Prompted by Dembele's expected sale, the name of former president Josep Bartomeu is again being sullied by pundits and Culers because of the monstrous amounts spent on 'The Mosquito', Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann which helped put Barca on the brink of financial ruin at the turn of the decade.
According to ex-CEO Ferran Reverter, Bartomeu's successor Joan Laporta and his board inherited a club that was "technically bankrupt" in May 2021.
Bartomeu does have to take some credit for signing off on a €5 million ($5.5 million) payment to land Pedri from Las Palmas in 2019, however, which continues to look like the bargain of the century each passing season.
Growing up as a Barca fan with a father who was the co-founder of a supporter's group known as a penya in their hometown of Tegueste on the isle of Tenerife, the Spain international could spend his peak and then some in Catalonia with a contract that runs until 2026 but will surely be extended one day.
