The suspected shooter’s father, Colin Gray, was arrested and charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The charges come after Gray told investigators he bought the gun used in the school shooting as a gift to his son, Colt, in 2023, according to CNN.
Colt has been charged as an adult with four counts of felony murder and is being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center.
The nine people injured in the shooting, which include two teachers and seven students, are expected to make full recoveries, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said during a news conference Thursday night.
