In a powerful moment from the upcoming episode of "90 Day Fiance: The Other Way," Armando confronts ... [+] his mother about the struggle that nearly cost him his life.

TLC

In the last episode of “90-Day Fiancé: The Other Way,” viewers watched as Armando’s mother wept over the prospect of her son moving even further away from her, as he and husband Kenny contemplated a move to Mexico City.

With emotions running high, she spoke of the pain their relocation would cause her, and dramatically asked, “Are you trying to make me suffer?”

But in the next episode, airing Monday August 7 at 8 p.m. ET, their conversation takes an even more emotional turn. A sneak peek from the TLC series, shared exclusively with Forbes.com, reveals that Armando finds a way to put an end to the guilt trip and make it clear that his life choices aren’t about making his beloved mother suffer.

Unfortunately, to get through to do that, he has to give her a heartbreaking reminder of his own suffering, from long ago, when Armando told his family he was gay. His coming out experience was a difficult one. He wasn’t accepted or supported. He struggled to even support himself.

“At that time, I just didn’t want to live anymore,” he tells his mother. “And I thought about how I could stop living.”

While he maintains his composure while speaking to her, Armando finds it hard to hold back his tears as he recalled that time in a lone moment with the cameras.

“For years I did hate myself, because I wasn’t what my parents wanted me to be,” he explains. “I found myself trying to do many things to, like, pray the gay away. Nothing ever worked, and I always wondered why—why isn’t this going away?”

After giving himself a moment to cry, he continues, sharing that his mother was one of the reasons he held on. The other lifeline he looked to was his daughter, Hannah, who’d already endured profound grief from the loss of her mother.

“I would never want to cause pain to Hannah and my mom, because they are both what I live for,” he insists. “In those dark moments, Hannah was my light and my reason to stay alive, because I didn’t want her to have the pain of also losing her father. So she’s my little savior. She doesn’t know it.”

When the scene cuts back to his and his mom’s conversation, it’s evident that his words made an impact.

“I regret not noticing what you were going through,” his mother says, sobbing. “But you know that I love you, I love you, I love you.”

She then gets up and hugs him, as she repeats the message and apologizes to Armando, adding, “I’m glad you were strong and you were able to pull through alone.”

While decision to move to Mexico City remains uncertain at the end of their talk, the difficult confrontation clearly left the family in a better place.
