Yellowstone season 5, part 2 returns Sunday night after a long break, and there are a lot of questions surrounding the hugely popular Tyler Sheridan drama. The show’s most recent season, season 5, part 1, debuted in early 2023, so it has been almost two years since a new episode has aired. Since that time, series star Kevin Costner announced that he was leaving the show, claiming that scripts were not completed in time for him to film as he was also concentrating on shooting the four-part movie Horizon: An American Saga, his passion project. When Yellowstone episodes return, that means the show could shift focus, since Costner has always been the center of the program. Here is everything to know about Yellowstone season 5, part 2.

Yellowstone season 5, part 2, airs at 8 p.m. Sunday on Paramount Network. CBS will also air the season debut at 10 p.m. Sunday night.

No, the season premiere and subsequent episodes will not be available on Paramount+. The streamer does not own rights to the show, whose previous seasons can now be streamed on Peacock.

Costner has said he will not appear on this season of Yellowstone. "I just wanted to let you know that I won't be returning," he posted on Instagram earlier this year, when Paramount Network announced the return date for the program.

Costner has said he would not rule out returning to the show in the future amid filming Horizon, but legal issues could overshadow such an agreement. He has said he may go to court to secure payment for this season despite sitting it out.

Yellowstone will have six new episodes, which will air every Sunday night until December 15.

It is still unclear if there will be a sixth season of Yellowstone. When Paramount Network announced the fifth season of the show, it was billed as the final season of the hugely popular drama.

However, since then and amid all the speculation over Costner’s continued involvement, the network has softened its stance. A sixth season has not been officially greenlit, but reports of discussions about another season have come out.

Because of Yellowstone’s popularity, it has already sparked two spinoffs, 1883 and 1923. Another starring Michelle Pfeiffer has been greenlit, but none of the existing spinoffs or upcoming one have a premiere date. 1923 has reportedly returned to production.

When Yellowstone season 5, part 1, ended with all the family and political drama fans have come to expect from the show. Beth and Jamie are once again on the outs, and John Dutton III’s political future seems unsettled.
