The 75th Emmy Awards ceremony—which was scheduled to take place on September 18—has reportedly been delayed by broadcaster Fox and the TV Academy, as Hollywood continued to grapple with the fallout of the simultaneous writers' and actors’ strikes.

According to Variety, which first reported the story, the vendors for the event have been informed about the delay, although an official announcement is yet to be made.

Apart from the Primetime Emmys, the delay will also impact the Creative Arts Emmys, which was scheduled to take place on September 9 and 10.

The event’s broadcaster Fox had previously indicated it will not go ahead with the ceremony if either the Writers Guild of America or SAG-AFTRA were still on strike at the end of July, but a placeholder date of September 18 remained.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Fox will announce a new date for the ceremony soon and it is expected to be moved to January.

The last time the Emmy Awards ceremony had to be postponed was back in 2001, following the 9/11 attacks. The original airdate for the event that year was September 16, which was moved to October 7. The event had to be postponed a second time—to November 4—after the U.S. began military action in Afghanistan.
