Forbes estimates Musk to be worth $195.2 billion as of Friday morning around 11:25 a.m., while Bezos is estimated to be worth $196.1 billion, according to Forbes’ real time billionaires list—giving Bezos a $900 million lead on Musk.
The wealthiest person on earth remains LVMH’s Bernard Arnault, at $232.5 billion.
Musk’s fall from the richest American title has come amid stock market troubles for Tesla, his electric vehicle company, whose share price has fallen about 12% in the last five days—and 1.5% on Friday.
By comparison, shares of Amazon are roughly flat this week and jumped 0.35% Friday.
Friday was just the second time since Aug. 19, 2021, that Musk fell outside of the top two in Forbes’ real-time billionaire rankings—with the first time being Wednesday, when he fell to Bezos for minutes before reclaiming the title.
