Drake has a new album out today, but while his legion of fans celebrate and enjoy the new tunes, there is some less-than-thrilling news coming from the hip-hop superstar—he’s going on a musical hiatus.

"I probably won't make music for a little bit," Drake stated candidly during an episode of his Sirius XM show, Table for One. The rapper went on to elaborate on why he’s planning on stepping back from music, saying, "I'm going to be real with you. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, and I'll talk about that soon enough."

Drake continued the conversation about his health, adding, “I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach.” He confirmed that he needs to “focus on my health, and I need to get [that] right.”

The chart-topper added that he has “a lot of other things that I would love to focus on,” though he didn’t elaborate on what those other projects may be, or if he meant just his health.

During the radio episode, Drake confirmed that he was talking about putting a pause on his music career. “I’ma lock the door in the studio for a little bit,” he clarified, so it seems that his new set might be his last for a while.

Drake also made it clear that he doesn’t know how long this hiatus may last, though he did put forth a guess. “I don’t even know what a little bit is,” the rapper continued, before adding, “Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”

If anyone has earned a break, it’s Drake. In less than 20 years, he has broken most of Billboard’s all-time records, and he’s well on his way to toppling the rest. He currently claims the most Hot 100 hits among all acts, with 299 placements on the tally, including a dozen No. 1s and a record 70 top 10s. He’s charted 12 No. 1 albums, and he’s likely about to claim another.

On Friday (October 6), Drake released his highly-anticipated new album For All The Dogs. The set, which had been pushed back from its original street date, came fronted by the single “Slime You Out” with SZA, which debuted atop the Hot 100 less than a month ago.
