


The Justice Department is investigating Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) for possible misuse of campaign funds, multiple outlets reported Tuesday, citing sources who said the probe centers around spending on security services, potentially including those made to her now-husband.

The agency is investigating Bush for corruption, CNN reported, citing two law enforcement sources.
The news was made public when the House clerk publicly notified the chamber the House sergeant-at-arms had received a grand jury subpoena from the Justice Department, and Punchbowl News subsequently reported the subpoena was tied to Bush’s security spending.
The Justice Department has also subpoenaed members of Bush’s campaign staff, the New York Times reported, citing people familiar with the probe.
The Office of Congressional Ethics previously investigated payments Bush’s campaign made to her now-husband, Cortney Merritts, for security work, but ultimately closed the probe, determining the twice-monthly $2,500 payments were legitimate.
