The Marvel Universe’s latest film, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” continued to show out in its second weekend in theaters, scoring the eighth-biggest second weekend ever and the fifth-biggest second weekend for a Marvel movie, according to multiple outlets—and it could soon top $1 billion in global sales.

Ryan Reynolds’ and Hugh Grant’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” brought in another $97 million domestically in its second weekend—nearly half of the $211 million it grossed domestically in its debut weekend—bringing its total U.S. gross to just below $400 million.

Outside of the U.S., “Deadpool” grossed an additional $110.5 million, bringing its overseas total to $428.5 million, Deadline reported Sunday morning.

“Twisters,” which is in its third weekend, brought in $22.7 million and took the second spot at the domestic box office, multiple outlets reported.

The third spot went to M. Night Shyamalan’s new thriller, “Trap,” which saw a $15.6 million opening this weekend, meeting expectations.

Animated sequel films took the fourth and fifth spots this weekend, with “Despicable Me 4” bringing in an estimated $11.2 million and “Inside Out 2” bringing in $6.7 million, Deadline reported.

$395.6 million. That’s the 10-day domestic total for “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Its worldwide gross total is an estimated $824.1 million.

In its first two weekends, “Deadpool & Wolverine” has already grossed more domestically and globally than the other two “Deadpool” films, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Deadpool” had $363.1 million in domestic sales and $782.6 million worldwide, according to BoxOfficeMojo, while “Deadpool 2” brought in $324.6 million domestically and $785.9 million worldwide.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” broke another record in its first two weekends that had been held for nearly two decades: It is now the highest-grossing rated-R movie domestically, passing Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ,” which grossed $370.8 million, according to BoxOfficeMojo.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” to pass the $1 billion mark. It’s expected the film will hit the milestone within days.
