Former President Donald Trump hurled insults at former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at his campaign’s closing rally in Michigan that stretched into early Tuesday, while his running mate Sen. JD Vance described Vice President Kamala Harris as “trash” at an earlier rally on Monday evening—offering a stark contrast from the Democratic candidate’s more optimistic closing message calling for a “fresh start” for America.

At his final rally, Trump said Pelosi was an “evil, sick, crazy bi—” before stopping himself and saying, “It starts with a B... I want to say it.”

Trump also attacked Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., calling him “shifty Schiff” and saying, “I call him pencil neck.”

The former president repeatedly described Democrats as “evil” and “sick” in his closing speech, and told his supporters that if he lost the election, “we would only have you to blame.”

At one of his final rallies on Monday evening, Vance attacked Harris, saying “in two days, we are gonna take out the trash in Washington, D.C. And the trash’s name is Kamala Harris.”

Vance prefaced his attack by saying the “citizens of this country, they are not garbage for thinking you’re doing a bad job,” attempting to link a comment made by President Joe Biden to Harris’ campaign.

Vance’s comments were another attempt by the Trump campaign to turn the “garbage” controversy on Biden after they faced strong backlash over comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's remark at a Trump rally calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

MSNBC host Nicole Wallace played the clip of Vance calling Harris “garbage” on her show on Monday night and said: “You can disagree with us [women], we’ve actually learned to take it for our whole careers…But you call us trash…JD Vance, you just f'ed up in a way I've never seen in my political life and I worked for Sarah Palin.”

In contrast, Harris struck a more optimistic tone in her closing speech, saying: “We have an opportunity in this election to finally turn the page on a decade of politics that has been driven by fear and division. We are done with that… and we’re exhausted with it. America is ready for a fresh start.”
