


Dozens of students walked out of the Virginia Commonwealth University commencement ceremony Saturday to protest Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s commencement address, amid heightened concern over potential graduation disruptions due to ongoing pro-Palestinian protests across U.S. college campuses.

Protesters at VCU had signaled their opposition to Youngkin’s address before Saturday, citing a variety of reasons, including Youngkin’s views on LGBTQ+ rights, his opposition to a proposed “racial literacy” requirement and his support for police efforts to breakup pro-Palestinian protests on Virginia campuses.
