Anderson Lee Aldrich, who uses they/them pronouns, reportedly told a judge they will plead guilty to five counts of first-degree murder and 46 counts of attempted first-degree murder, and no contest to two counts of bias-motivated crime, Colorado’s hate crime distinction.

Aldrich will be sentenced to five consecutive life sentences, Colorado Public Radio reported.

There was speculation earlier this month that Aldrich would plead guilty, after they spoke to the Associated Press and expressed remorse, saying they are prepared to “take responsibility.”

By taking a plea deal and pleading guilty, Aldrich is forgoing trial, though victims will have the chance to read statements about the shooting’s impact on their life.
