AL KHOR, QATAR - NOVEMBER 20: Jung Kook of BTS performs during the opening ceremony prior to the ... [+]
Fans of BTS singer Jung Kook are preparing for the star to release his new solo single "Seven," which is expected to drop this coming Friday, July 14. The musician is beginning a new journey in his career, but he hasn't forgotten about his older works, and now he's scored two major Billboard chart hits by looking back through his own discography.
Jung Kook debuts not one but two tracks on the Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard's weekly ranking of the bestselling tunes in the U.S. That makes the tally different from other lists, like the Hot 100, which also takes into account both streams and radio play. Both of Jung Kook's tunes don't just appear on the list; they arrive inside the top 10.
Leading the way among Jung Kook's new hits is "Still With You," which opens at No. 6. The track sold 6,500 copies, according to data shared by Luminate.
Just a few spaces further down comes yet another Jung Kook song. His own "My You" debuts at No. 10 on this week's Digital Song Sales chart. The tune sold just over 5,100 copies in its first full frame of availability in America.
Both "Still With You" and "My You" aren't exactly new, but they were finally made available to buy in the United States for the first time. The tracks were recorded and released on some platforms years ago and years apart from one another. To date, only super fans of both Jung Kook and BTS knew of them, as neither had been made available on any sites that would allow them to chart in the U.S., and they weren't promoted as singles. Now, ahead of the release of "Seven," Jung Kook posted them widely, allowing millions to stream and perhaps most importantly, buy them.
