CNN offered to host the first debate on June 27, hours after Biden formally challenged Trump to June and September faceoffs in a video announcement.

Trump and Biden promptly accepted CNN’s invitation.

The quick turn of events comes after Trump prodded Biden for months to agree to a debate. Biden said for the first time in a Howard Stern interview last month he would be willing to debate Trump.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
