Labor Day 2025 is Monday, Sept. 1. However, many brands run Labor Day sales all weekend long. Some retailers save their absolute best discounts for Monday itself, but most will be running the same promotions now through the holiday—so there’s no need to wait to shop. 

Yes, Amazon’s Labor Day Sale started on Aug. 22. It is expected to run through Sept. 1, if not longer, and features up to 40% off everything from electronics and home appliances to beauty and fashion. 

For the most part, no. Many brands save their absolute lowest prices of the year on Black Friday. That said, often the price differences between the two sales aren’t all that big. If you’re ready to make a purchase, we don’t necessarily think it’s worth waiting until November to save a few extra dollars. 

Like any holiday weekend, most major retailers will host some sort of Labor Day event, so you’ll likely be able to score a discount on just about anything on your list. That said, bigger items, like mattresses and home furniture, are typically heavy hitters for the holiday. We also usually see good clothing sales to kick off the start of a new season and school year.
