Barron Trump, 18 and the only child of Trump and his third wife, former First Lady Melania Trump, has enrolled in New York University’s Stern School of Business for his freshman year.
Barron Trump’s college pick was the subject of heavy intrigue in the months leading up to the start of the school year—the Daily Beast first reported in April that NYU was Barron’s top pick, a departure from the Ivy League path his father and several of his siblings followed.
Trump told the Daily Mail his son considered his alma mater, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and was “accepted to a lot of colleges,” but ultimately “went for Stern,” calling the school “a very high quality place.”
Barron Trump, who graduated from the Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach in May, was photographed arriving on campus Wednesday along with his Secret Service detail.
Barron Trump was expected to make his political debut at the Republican National Convention this summer as one of Florida’s at-large delegates, but he ultimately declined the role, with Melania Trump’s office citing “prior commitments.” Trump told the Daily Mail last week his son is interested in politics and has helped Trump’s campaign connect with Gen Z voters.
