The record-breaking success of Warner Bros. Barbie movie continued in its first full week at the box office and it’s reportedly set to ride its winning streak through a second weekend, but a few coveted records remain untouched by the success of the summer blockbuster.

Barbie ended its first seven days in the box office with a $21.4 million domestic pull on Thursday, wrapping up a $256.6 million first week that puts it ahead of The Super Mario Bros. Movie's $240.2 million first week in April.

It also broke the record for the biggest opening weekend for a female director, was the biggest domestic opening ever for a non-superhero film or sequel, and is on pace to be the fastest female-targeted movie to hit the $300 million mark—Beauty and the Beast did it in 10 days back in 2017.

The release of Barbie coincided with the release of Christopher Nolan’s deadly serious film Oppenheimer, drawing fans in droves to a diametric double feature, and both movies are headed toward the best second weekend of ticket presales ever, Deadline reported.

Barbie set single-day records for Warner Bros. on Monday and Tuesday, earning $26.1 million and $26 million at the box office, respectively, but remains well behind a roll of superhero flicks and franchise favorites for single-day box office wins.

Avengers: Endgame The blockbuster hit Avengers: Endgame broke all kinds of records when it premiered in July of 2019, including becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, a title it held until 2021. It may have lost the top spot, but it holds the records for biggest domestic performance by day for Friday ($157.5 million), Saturday ($109.3 million) and Sunday ($90.4 million). Barbie was the 24th most-watched movie on a Friday, 28th on a Saturday and 14th on a Sunday.

The $300 million mark. Barbie is expected to cross the threshold this weekend, per Deadline, with another $70 million in expected sales. Oppenheimer is expected to earn another $35 million this weekend.

Mattel this week said it will release at least 14 more toy-inspired movies after the success of Barbie, though details are scant. A total of 45 films are in development, Mattel said, but the company revealed more information about only two—Lily Collins is set to star in and produce a “Polly Pocket” movie directed by Lena Dunham, and Daniel Kaluuya of Get Out fame is slated to produce a "Barney" film.
