Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, captured the biggest opening weekend of the year so far and the biggest-ever opening weekend for a female-directed movie. Much of the movie’s hype was linked in media to the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon, which urged moviegoers to see Barbie and Christoper Nolan’s Oppenheimer on the same day.
